Possibility of contact force monitoring during catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia

چکیده
Nowadays, electroanatomical mapping system are widely used to clarify arrhythmic substrates and identify the target of ablation not only in patients with supraventricular tachycardia or atrial fibrillation but also ventricular tachycardia. To achieve good results in the procedure, it is important to obtain precise mapping information and to deliver adequate radiofrequency energy. Although it is widely recognized that the contact between the ablation catheter and myocardial tissue is one of the most important factors that affects both the accuracy of maps and the efficacy of energy delivery, we had no direct indicator before recent improvements in contact force monitoring technology. In this article, the recently developed technologies regarding contact force monitoring are discussed.

The first human experience of a contact force sensing catheter for epicardial ablation of ventricular tachycardia
Contact force (CF) is one of the major determinants for sufficient lesion formation. CF-guided procedures are associated with enhanced lesion formation and procedural success. We report our initial experience in epicardial ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation with a force-sensing catheter using a new approach with an angioplasty balloon. Two patients with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardi...
متن کاملCatheter ablation of right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia using contact force guidance
Outflow tract tachycardias (OTT) originating from the right or left ventricular outflow tract are thought to be benign. However, symptoms can be disabling and deterioration of left ventricular function may occur with a high arrhythmia burden. Catheter ablation has a high acute success rate of up to 90 %, but recurrences are not uncommon [1, 2]. Novel catheter designs, and mapping and ablation t...
متن کاملRelation between impedance and endocardial contact during radiofrequency catheter ablation.
Lesion size during radiofrequency catheter ablation in patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) is thought to be related to multiple factors, including contact pressure at the catheter-endocardial interface. Therefore a predictor of contact pressure at a potential target site for ablation might be useful. In this study 25 patients underwent duplicate 2 W applications of radi...
متن کاملContact force mapping during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation: procedural data and one-year follow-up
INTRODUCTION Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the state-of-the-art treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). Pulmonary vein reconnection is one of the main mechanisms of AF recurrence after ablation. Catheter-tissue contact is essential for effective ablation lesions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of catheter contact monitoring during PVI on AF recurrence rate. MATERIAL AND M...
متن کاملNon-contact mapping to guide catheter ablation of untolerated ventricular tachycardia.
AIMS The role of a novel non-contact mapping system (ESI 3000, Endocardial Solutions) to guide radiofrequency catheter ablation of untolerated ventricular tachycardia was investigated in 17 patients; 11 with prior myocardial infarction, three with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, and three with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. METHODS Twenty-seven monomorphic ventricular tachycar...
